Community Presenters Assistance - Community Presenters Assistance Application forms are ready for download. The new forms for the 2010-2011 season (for performances happening between July 1, 2010 and June 30, 2011. CPA is a program of the BC Arts Council and is administered by the BC Touring Council. http://www.bctouring.org/presenter-assistance/

Coordinated Online Booking Coordination (COBB) – Thanks to 2010 Legacies Now (Arts), the BC Arts Council and Canadian Heritage for their support of COBB. Many presenters are now using this online block booking system to book tours and BCTC’s co-ordination provides quicker response of information from agents and artists with details about their shows to post on the website so as to get to the next stage of booking dates and routing tours sooner and with more efficiency. Most presenters are finishing their bookings for the 2010-11 season and many have expressed interests and are beginning booking tours for 2011-12.


BCTC Board News - Changes to BCTC bylaws at the March Annual General Meeting reduced the size of the board from 16 to 11. The BCTC board includes 7 presenters representing the 5 regions in the province, 2 agents representing agent/managers and 2 representing artists/artistic companies. Bruce Halliday of The Port Theatre, Nanaimo is the newest member of the BCTC Board of Directors representing Vancouver/Gulf Islands region. BCTC Board Travels to the South East region in September – BCTC is pleased to announce that the organization will be returning to the Kootenay region from September 9-12 for its fall meeting. Since 2004 The BCTC board has travelled to all regions of the province. The commitment to get out into regional communities to better understand our members issues and concerns on their home turf has been an important yearly activity of the Board of Directors. In the last couple of years the meetings have also included a workshops and last year BCTC had the pleasure of co-hosting the meeting in Smithers with 2010 Legacies Now as part of the Northern Arts Summit. Stay tuned for more details in the next e-news.

Norman Foote winner of the 2010 Juno Award for his new CD “Love My New Shirt”. Norman has written and recorded songs for Disney Records, CBC Television, Shari Lewis, The National Film Board, Little Bear and Max and Ruby. He has also won Parent’s Choice Awards and NAPPA Gold Awards for his recordings, as well as Socan’s Best Songwriter for Children.

Carol Cairns is the new Performing Arts Coordinator for Stars for Saskatchewan and Koncerts for Kids with the Organization of Saskatchewan Arts Councils (OSAC) replacing Kevin Korchinski who is now Executive Director of OSAC. Carol has long been associated with the Visual and Performing Arts in Saskatchewan . After opening her own gallery SOCOKO in Bengough, Carol was instrumental in starting the Bengough Municipal Arts Council in 2004 and later the very successful Gateway Festival that in five short years has become a staple on the Western Canadian festival Circuit.
Carol is a visual artist in a variety of disciplines with a long held passion for the Performing Arts. Her background as an OSAC volunteer in rural Saskatchewan and experience in working with agents and artists from throughout Canada and beyond, leave Carol uniquely positioned to take on this new role.
Carol has been with OSAC since July 2009 as the Visual and Media Arts Assistant and the search is beginning for her replacement.

Joyce Rosario has been named the new Executive Director at New Works' http://www.newworks.ca/ replacing founder and producer Barb Clausen who with Jim Smith produces DanceHouse http://www.dancehouse.ca
Joyce has been involved in arts and culture in Vancouver for over 10 years. A graduate of the theatre program at UBC, Joyce subsequently worked as an arts administrator in a variety of dance organizations and for the past three years has been the Executive Director of Made In BC, Dance On Tour.

Sarah Moore joins Made In BC Dance On Tour as Executive Director. Originally from Halifax , Sarah Moore comes to Made in BC - Dance on Tour via Whitehorse where she has spent the past season working at the Yukon Arts Centre and as an independent contractor working in production for dance, music, and theatre. A graduate of the theatre programmes at Mount Allison University and Trinity College Dublin, Sarah has been engaged in the performing arts for over ten years. Sarah will be transitioning into her position at Made in BC over the summer, and will be officially in the Vancouver office on September 1st. http://www.madeinbc.org/
