Calling all Artists! I Want to Showcase is a collaboration between Ontario Contact and Contact East, and their goal is simple: to offer artists applying to showcase a site that is easy to navigate, understand and use. In developing IWTS, it became clear that Ontario Contact and Contact East were so similar in their showcase applications that the process could be streamlined into one format. This multi-conference application system not only serves a need in both organizations but also saves artists time and money. This new approach makes sense on a number of levels as it allows the artist to apply online to one or multiple showcases at a time, to receive a discount for applying to more than one showcase, and then to pay for it all at the same time and place. Contact East and Ontario Contact are happy to work jointly in order to serve this need in our market, and we think you will find this method simple, refreshing and convenient. http://www.iwanttoshowcase.ca/

Hills Strategies News - New report shows that 700,000 Canadians volunteered nearly 75 million hours in arts and culture organizations in 2007
Canadian arts and culture organizations rely on volunteers to fulfill many roles, including serving on boards of directors, organizing events, fundraising, teaching or mentoring others, and performing various administrative tasks. Without volunteer support, many arts and culture organizations would be unable to achieve their mandates. In fact, a 2003 survey of non-profit organizations found that almost two-thirds of arts and culture organizations are run entirely by volunteers. Given the importance of volunteers, Volunteers in Arts and Culture Organizations in Canada in 2007, the 31st report in the Statistical Insights on the Arts series from Hill Strategies Research, provides an important indicator of the health of the arts and culture sector and evidence of community engagement in arts and culture organizations, including organizations involved in visual arts, architecture, ceramic art, performing arts, museums, zoos, aquariums, media and communications as well as historical, literary and humanistic societies. www.HillStrategies.com
