Managers/Artist to Acquiring the Core Fundamentals to Increase

In recent years, performing arts presenters in Canada, United States, Australia and New Zealand have learned and put into practice a new framework (based on current research and innovative practice) for engaging audiences and communities to participate in the arts. They are seeking artists and managers knowledgeable in the new framework and skilled in developing new methods for audience engagement. Learning this new framework will provide a competitive advantage for Canadian Managers/Artists.
This workshop was suggested by Canadian Artist Managers whove participated in workshops previously sponsored by CCI-Ontario, CAPACOA, the BC Touring Council and the Vancouver Arts Alliance. Theyre now able to more fully understand the changing landscape and want to share the new knowledge with others.

Jerry served as Facilitator for the START (State Arts Agency) Initiative
of the Wallace Foundation, managed by Arts Midwest. Thirteen State Arts
Agencies formed Communities of Practice to increase participation in the

He chaired the National Task Force on Presenting and Touring the Performing Arts, resulting in the 1989 seminal report, An American Dialogue. Jerry chaired three panels at the National Endowment for the Arts, served four years on the California Arts Council, was Treasurer of the Music Center of Los Angeles County and was the Executive Director of the Japanese American Cultural and Community Center. Hes a graduate of Stanford University with a Masters in Public Administration from Arizona State University. Designed for volunteers from small to mid-size community presenting organizations this session will also be of interest to emerging arts organizations or one person shops where fundraising is just one of the many things you do! This three hour workshop will focus on very practical methods that work for those with little or no fundraising experience. Topics covered will include: pricing and securing event sponsors, program ad sales, memberships, donations, gifts in kind and partnership survival techniques! Please bring a sample of your season brochure, posters and/or flyers for a friendly "diagnostic" assessment. You will leave with an action plan that will work for your series in your community. company that is recognized nationally as a best-practice model of volunteer
participation in the arts. A senior arts manager and consultant with extensive
experience in cultural development, facilities management and policy and
program development, Ms. Feldman enables her seminar
participants to build positive relationships with their organizations'
stakeholders through insight and practical tools.
