REAL TIME – Conversations
at Pacific Contact
Respecting your valuable time, BCTC has
made a number of changes this year to Pacific
Contact. Within a shorter, more intensive conference
we are experimenting with a new format for
delivery of professional development and networking
with a new session based on a recent US conference
event called The Mosh-Pit. During this 90-minute
session conference delegates will have opportunities
to discuss/get answers to that all-important
key issue or concern you have been longing
to hear/talk about. Yes, over 90 minutes and
as many as 20 topics you can move around the
room to learn and share new ideas, hear about
innovations and ask specific questions you
need to have answered.

It's All In The Pitch - A
New Look at how to Book Theatre
This informative session includes
a thorough presentation on basics and practical
tips for pitching with Industry veteran Sherrie
Johnson. A candid look at how projects pitching
at the PuSh Assembly and Magnetic North Industry
Series have had success in Canada and abroad.
Sherrie
Johnson brings seventeen years of prolific
experience producing award-winning theatre,
dance and film. As the producer of da da kamera
(1993 - 2007), her long-standing association
with Daniel MacIvor has resulted in a string
of acclaimed theatre productions that have
toured Canada, Scotland, Ireland, United States,
Australia, Norway, Israel and Western and Eastern
Europe.
Sherrie was the touring liaison for
The Magnetic North Theatre Festival in 2006
and 2007. She is currently the producer of
the PuSh Assembly held annually during the
PuSh International Performing Arts Festival
in Vancouver and recently produced (with
Bernard Lagace, Alain Pare and Esther Charron)
I.E.T.M. Montreal 2007 in Montreal. She is
recipient of the first John Hobday Award in
Arts Management given by the Canada Council.

De-Mystifying Grant Writing
Fundraising Workshop - Lydia
Marston-Blaauw and Helen Moats
Using the Province's Community Presenters Assistance
Program (CPA) as a working example, this hands-on
workshop will combine information about CPA
with a focus on how to combine clear narrative
with financial information, statistics and
the story of your community's needs. Learn what
experienced grant writers know, get an informed
head start on this year's application, and
find out where the program is heading in the
future.
Lydia Marston-Blaauw has over 20 years
of experience in Performing Arts Management
and has successfully completed many capital
projects. She is currently principal of Lydia
Marston-Blaauw and Associates, consulting
in all areas of performing arts practice including
needs assessments, culture scans and facility
management. lydiamb@shaw.ca
Helen Moats is
an experienced presenter from Quadra Island
who has had more grantwriting experience
than she every wanted. She is no longer afraid
of a blank grant form and will share with you
how she got to that point.
